Harry Pawter: A Little Studio Magic ✨
There are normal days at the studio… and then there are days when a bunch of dogs show up dressed like tiny wizards.
And obviously, those are some of my favorite days.
Our Harry Pawter sessions brought a little Hogwarts magic to the Good Vibes studio — robes, glasses, scarves, spells, questionable wizarding skills and a whole lot of treats being used as bribes behind the scenes.
Because listen… getting a dog to look like they are seriously contemplating their next spell when they’re actually staring at a piece of chicken? That is the real magic.
Every Dog Brings Something Different
One of my favorite things about themed sessions is seeing how completely different every dog looks on the exact same set.
Some understood the assignment immediately.
Some brought serious Headmaster of Hogwarts energy.
Some looked like they had absolutely been sent to detention.
And some were clearly only attending Hogwarts because their mom told them there would be snacks.
Exactly as it should be.
That’s also why I never expect dogs to come into the studio knowing how to “model.” We work with the dog in front of us — their personality, comfort level, attention span and whatever amount of chaos they happen to bring that day.
Sometimes the little imperfections are the photos that end up being the most them.
A Little Behind the Magic
These finished photos may look like our tiny students calmly arrived at Hogwarts and posed beautifully for their school portraits.
Reality is much funnier.
There are noises.
Treats.
Squeaky things.
Resetting hats.
Putting glasses back on.
Waiting for sniff breaks.
Me making sounds that should probably never be heard outside the walls of a dog photography studio.
And approximately 900 versions of, “WHO’S A GOOD WIZARD?!”
But that’s part of what I love about photographing dogs.
They don’t have to be perfect.
They just have to be themselves.
