It’s 10% Camera… and 90% Treat Negotiations
(…plus one or two assistants acting like human squeaky toys)
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like to photograph dogs for a living, imagine this:
I’m crouched on the floor making noises that defy reason, my assistant is off-camera waving a squeaky taco above her head, and a dog is staring at us like we’ve escaped from a traveling circus.
Spoiler: We are the circus.
And yes — we absolutely have snacks.
People assume dog photography is glamorous — a quick click, a perfect pose, and a dog who naturally smolders into the camera like a canine supermodel.
Reality check:
Half the session is me and my assistants negotiating with a dog who has full creative control over the entire shoot.
